Welcome to my brand new blog!! This blog has been a long time coming and I am SO excited about this new journey. I want to thank you for coming along for the journey with me! This is actually not my first blog (it is my 3rd), but my plan with this blog is a little different. With this blog, I plan to provide a space where upper elementary teachers can come for ideas, tips and resources to help them grow as a teacher! One of my biggest passions is supporting other teachers and helping them grow.
Want to see a sneak peek about what blog posts you will see each month? I LOVE sneak peeks and hope this will give you a better idea of what you can expect. Check out these 3 sneak peeks below:
#1: By far, my favorite subject to teach has always been math! I love to see my student’s math grow from the beginning until the end of the year. I have a passion for finding new ways to reach different types of learners in math and to find ways to engage my students every day! A couple years ago, I started teaching through math groups (AKA math rotations or math centers) instead of the traditional whole group lesson. This truly changed how I taught math and my students understanding of math concepts. On this blog, I will be sharing a lot about math rotations, how to engage your students in math and new ideas for teaching your students different upper elementary math concepts. Click the image below to check out a video to hear more about why I have used math rotations the past couple of years!
#2: I love sharing easy, but impactful ideas for the classroom! Encouraging your students to use academic vocabulary, show kindness to one another, try their best and collaborate with others, does not have to be hard! I will be sharing ideas monthly that you can take and use with minimal prep in your classroom immediately. Check out this anchor chart below that I used to help my students with discussions and collaboration with one another.
#3: I want you to know that is important to me that I keep it real with you all on this blog! With that being said, you will see blog posts about the real life of a teacher, which means these posts will show the good, the bad and the ugly parts of teaching. I vow to you that my blog posts will keep it real and will never make teaching look easy (it is not!). Instead, I hope to provide you with tips, ideas and resources to make teaching easier for you!
BONUS SNEAK PEEK: Teaching is a whole different beast this year with COVID and the pandemic. No matter your views or thoughts on what is going on, I guarantee your classroom looks different than years past. Many of you are teaching virtually, hybrid, or there are even some of you trying to get through this pandemic with a traditional full class of students in your classroom. No matter how you are teaching, this year is tough! I plan to share monthly blog posts with tips, tricks and even FREEBIES to help you through this time. So, let’s start with a webquest FREEBIE that can be used virtually or in the classroom! Click the image below to grab this FREEBIE!
I hope that you now have a better idea of what you will find on this blog! I am excited to share what I have learned and tried out in my own classroom. Check out my first blog post on some organizational tips for distance learning teaching that helped me in the Spring!
